PERSONAL. —Captain W. H. D. Gardner has from Sydney, and has been appointed to command of the Ivaitangata, relieving Captain A. S. Dalgleish for holidays. _ , , .. Captain J. Stewart has concluded his holidays at Sydney. „ _ _ .. Mr. J. B. Gibson second officer of tne Waipahi, was recently invalided ashore at Auckland, suffering from influenza. Mr A W. Pert, second officer of the Kaikorai, has been relieved from the vessel and is proceeding to Sydney for instructions. _ ... Mr. C. H. Vincent, third officer of the Kaituna, has been granted holidays at Auckland. _ ... Mr. J. J. Barnard, second officer of the Wingatui, has transferred to the Katoa in a similar capacity, relieving Mr. D. J. R. McKenzie for his holidays. The death occurred on October 18, at Sea Point, South Africa, of Captain A. V. Jones, late, of the British Mercantile Marine, and a former member of the Wellington executive of the Navy League. He was in his BSth year when he died from shock caused by burglars entering his home and setting alight to the house. Mr. W. W. Houghton has joined the Waihemo as chief engineer, relieving Mr. J. E. Hamer for his holidays. Mr. J. Summers, fourth engineer of the Kaitoke, has transferred to the Waihemo in a similar capacity, relieving Mr. J. Longley for holiday leave. Mr. H. W. Insley, second engineer of the Kaponga, has been granted holiday leave, his place being taken by Mr. J. Ti\. McGillMr. L. Blomfield has joined the Kamona as second engineer, in place of Mr. J. G. Craig, who has transferred to the Katoa. Mr. J. Miller has rejoined the Maunganui as fourth engineer, after holiday leave. THE SILVER SHELL.— After unloading a full cargo of bulk oil into the Shell Company’s tanks at Freeman’s Bay. the tanker Silver Shell sailed for Balik Papan. Borneo, on Saturday evening. LORN ASTON TO DOCK. —Henderson and Macfarlane advises that the steamer Lornaston docks on Wednesday for cleaning and painting. She undocks on Thursday and sails for Westport, where she bunkers. Her future movements have not yet been announced. TAMAROA ARRIVES. —From London, via Wellington, the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tamaroa arrived at Auckland this morning. She berthed at Queen’s Wharf to complete unloading her general merchandise cargo to the agency of A. S. Paterson and Company, Ltd. PORT CURTIS SAILS. —After loading a large quantity of New Zealand produce at Auckland, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer, Port Curtis, sailed for Wellington and Napier on Saturday evening to complete loading for New York, Boston and Halifax. R7.MUERA LEAVES PANAMA. Cabled news has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that their liner, Remuera, left Panama last Tuesday for Wellington and Auckland, in continuation of her voyage from London and Southampton. The vessel is due at Wellington on December 31. THE MANUKA. —The Union Company’s passenger steamer Manuka is to leave Melbourne on Wednesday for Wellington, ; via Bluff, Dunedin and Lyttelton. She is due at Bluff on December 23, and at | Wellington on December 29. On December 31 she is to be dispatched from Wellington for Melbourne direct. MARAMA FROM SYDNEY. —Due in the stream at Auckland at 8 a.m. to-mor-row from Sydney, the Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer Marama later berths at the Central Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. The Marama is to leave Auckland at 3 p.m. next Thursday, instead of Friday, on her return trip to Sydney. AORANGI CLEARS VANCOUVER.— The local office of the Union Company advises that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, which left Vancouver at noon last Wednesday, via ports, for Auckland and Sydney, is due here on Sunday, December 30,‘and is in the meantime announced to leave here at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 31, for Sydney. HERTFORD DEPARTS. —With nearly la,ooo tons measurement of New Zealand products, the Federal Line steamer Hertford was dispatched from Auckland for London, on Saturday afternoon. She is the second vessel to leave Auckland last week with a full cargo of New Zealand produce for London. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s motor-ship Karamea was dispatched last Thursday with over 12,000 tons. COMPANY’S VESSELS. —The Northern Company advises that the Waiuku resumed her summer running to \\ aiheke to-day. She leaves Auckland daily at 9.30 a.m., for Surf dale, Ostend, and Omiha, but on Mondays and Wednesdays she will make the through trip to Cowes Bay. The Rarawa is to leave Onehunga for New Plymouth* to-day l -, on Thursday and next Saturday. She will leave New Plymouth for Onehunga to-morrow Friday and next Monday. The Ngapuhi is to leave Auckland for Tauranga to-day, on Thursday and next Saturday. Returning to Auckland she will leave Tauranga to-morrow, on Friday and next Monday. On Thursday the return fare to Tauranga will be reduced to 30s. e t?,?o l o~ii Clan i :n^ ri to leave Auckland for Russell and Northern ports at 4 o’clock this afternoon and on Friday afternoon. She will arrive back at Auckland on Friday and next Monday.
