SPANISH WATER-COLOURS
LIONEL LINDSAY PRAISED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Saturday. Mr. Lionel Lindsay’s 51 Spanish water-colours in the Colnaghi Galleries, Bond Street, are attracting favourable comment. Mr. Alfred Munnings, the Royal Academician, said: “There are so many good drawings that it is difficult to choose.” Senor Fernandez, an Andalusian painter, said: “What a pity these were not exhibited at Madrid. Signor Lindsay is not a mere tourist. He sees Spain with our eyes.” Mr. Lindsay says that the pictures are the result of exploration off the beaten track. The art critics unanimously praise the pictures. The “Morning Post” says: “Look at any, or indeed all the subjects, and mark structural fascination of the colour harmonies, in deft transparent touches, quick with the happy play of light and shade.”
