N GAT ARIN GA’S PAVILION The grounds of the Ngataringa Tennis Club at Stanley Bay Park were bnghtw ith bunting on Saturday, the occasion being the opening of a handsome pavilion. Just a year ago, after i overcoming many difficulties, the club opened five chip courts on the Stanley Park, where previously there was five feet of water at high tide. The courts were opened clear of debt, and in September of this year it was decided to iave a suitable pavilion. Efforts to raise funds were planned, and in the .st weeks of November a. tender was :et for the erection of a two-storeyed pavilion, which was completed and nded over on Saturday last. Mr. C. M. Browne, president of the club expressed the gratification the club felt on the occasion. Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of Devon port, declaring the pavilion open, paid a tribute to the work of the secretary, Mr. L. S. Bates, who had organised the fundraising campaign, and the architect. Air. H. F. Robinson, who had given his services free. The contract had been satisfactorily carried out by the Allan Construction Company. Air. E. Hickson, president of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, spoke of the pleasure it gave him to see such progress, and added his praise for the work of Air. Bates.
