MINISTERS’ PLANS
HOLIDAY ITINERARIES UNITED PARTY CONSOLIDATION Plans are now being made for the reorganisation and consolidation of the United Party throughout New Zealand. This will take place early in the New Year.. The Auckland headquarters of the party is now situated in Swanson Street, and the office there will remain open for some months. * * * The Hon. T. M. Wilford, Minister-in-Charge of the Prisons Department, is expected to arrive in Auckland on Monday next. Although his is a holiday visit, he will meet a deputation on Rangitoto Island, and will hear also representations from the Devonport Borough Council concerning relief work oh the island. He has agreed to bo available at any time except during the recognised public holidays. The Hon.- W. B. Taverner, Minister of Railways, is expected to visit Auckland early in January, when he will make a personal inquiry into the Hobsqn Bay preservation movement and the circumstances surrounding the proposal to establish shunting yards in the bay. * * * The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Public Works, plans to visit Arapuni in the near future. He will make a close inspection of the works and acquaint himself of the progress made. * » * Among the questions to be placed before Mr. Wilford, in his capacity as Minister'pf T>efepqe, will be the position of 'qhe , Auckland Aero Club in respect tp. th.e allocation of four of the eight Moth. airplanes to be imported by the Government. These have been promised to flying schools. + * The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health.- -left for Wellington last evening; • He will return on Saturday and plans to remain in Auckland over the holidays. ITe has expressed his willingness to meet any deputations during that period. The Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmasterGenera), intends to remain in Auckland- until 7. For the present he is- engaged in clearing up private business affairs, but he will be at the Ministers’ room in the Post Office building Of? Wednesday morning. * * * Mr.- A. ID. Davy, Dominion organiser for the-United Party, will arrive in Auckland on Wednesday afternoon and will probably remain here until after the holidays. _"V » * * MINISTERS’ OFFICE IN AUCKLAND The establishment of permanent ministerial offices in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin is being considered by the Government. There is a ministerial suite in the General Post Office building, in Auckland, but this is not used apart from the occasion of visits by Ministers. It is believed to be the intention to arrange for one or the other of the two Auckland City Ministers, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, or the Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmasterGeneral, to Lave quarters there, and, if neither is in the city, to arrange for the office to be open for dealing with matters of. local concern.
