FINAL SHOWS
“WHIRL OF MIRTH” FINISHING Two last opportunities are given Aucklanders to say farewell to the popular “Whirl of Mirth” Revue at St. James Theatre. George Ward and his bright company of entertainers will play at this afternoon’s matinee and to-night’s performance for the last time. Needless to say, they have kept their best revue for the final week. It goes with a punch from opening chorus to grand finale, including in its three hours the best and brightest in song, dance and sketch. “Little Hermie” Ward is the principal comedian, and even his appearance is enough to make an audience v r ith the slightest sense of humour go into mild hysterics. In his work he is ably supported by Charles Sherman and Frank Moran. Vernon Sellars with his fine voice has enjoyed immense popularity. The same can be said of Patsy Hill and Collen Hope. The dancers, Jean Keith and Gus Dawson, with their clever stepdancing, and the ballet of girls, have also received their full share of the public’s appreciation. Lovers of jazz will be sorry to lose the Charleston Symphonic Six, a talented band.
