HAROLD LLOYD
FILMS GREAT NEW COMEDY Harold, Lloyd, whose visits to the screen have been a little too infrequent of late to satisfy his host o,£ followers, will be seen in his latest Paramount release, “Speedy,” which will be screened at the Strand Theatre next Friday. Harold Lloyd has been making about three picture's every two years lor the last four years. Comedies have becomo the most trying of all motion pictures to produce, for in no other field of entertainment has the competition been so keen, and so much demanded from the stars by the public. The bespectacled comedian has never been found wanting with any picture he has ever produced, and in “Speedy”
he again reaches the mark with a swift-moving, highly amusing entertainment that ranks with his finest efforts in the laugh-making line. Harold Lloyd is planning to make about two pictures every year, but these plans are subject to revision according to the difficulty he encounters in selecting new material. The comedy field has been combed over meticulously. and while it is becoming more difficult all the time to find new stuff, Lloyd never fails to come up with something new in every venture. “Speedy,” besides having the novelty of a New York background and a story built around the old-time horse car. has a wealth of original gags, and is guaranteed to keep any audience in a high state of hilarity for one hour. Cute Ann Christy, as Harold’s new’ leading lady, is an attraction in herself.
