MR. W. R. SMITH
UNITED ARTISTS FILMS Mr. W. R. Jsmith was born in Brisbane, and came to New Zealand at an early age. He was educated at the Wellington College, where he made quite a name for himself in the sports field. Mr. Smith started his film career at
Universal Exchange as despatch clWk under Mr. E. O. Gurney, and latterly under Mr. C. Eskell. After two years at .Universal he joined the staff of United Artists under Mr. Cecil Marks, and later Mr. Laurie Quinn. For nearly four years he represented United Artists on the road, and in September, 1927, was appointed New Zealand manager for United Artists. Mr. Smith has just recently returned from the United Artists Convention, held in Sydney, with high hopes for the coming season’s product of his organisation.
