Everything that will add to the Personal Comfort of Patrons —Lighting, Ventilation and Seating—will be provided for next year. ITH full cognisance of the remarkable pictures shown to Auckland audiences during this year, and of the high standard of cinematography the public has learned to expect, we have no hesitation in declaring that the merit of picture entertainment for 1929 surpasses all hitherto presented. Our judgment is based on the actual viewing of the coming films, and is fortified by the comments of the world’s most capable reviewers. The great stars will shine as brilliantly as before, and their personal attributes will be reflected in the artistry of many aspirants to fame. The themes selected for the screening have been chosen with meticulous respect for the preferences of the Auckland picturegoers, and the presentations will be on an even more ambitious and lavish scale. Among 1929 films are many that are novel both in conception and interpretation. Not the least interesting will be the introduction of the long anticipated “Talkies.” Realizing our obligations to Auckland picture patrons, the series of pictures that will be shown at the theatres under our control throughout the coming year has been selected irrespective of their prodigious cost, but purely in accordance with a determination that only the “ World's best is good enough for Auckland. Our appreciation and gratitude for past support and encouragement can, we venture to suggest, be best expressed by our urging that every programme shown during 1929 is worthy of your patronage.
