PECULIAR JOKERS
FOUR YOUNG MEN FINED “RAGGED" A SMALL BOY “We shall have to put down this foolish behaviour,” remarked Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when four young men appeared before him this morning to answer charges relating to a “joke” they had with a small boy in a motor garage. John A. McDonald, Albert Elshaw, and Robert G. Strong pleaded guilty to charges of assault. James Aitcheson, similarly charged, did not appear offering the explanation that he would lose his position if he went to the Court in working time. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that the four young men had caught their victim in a motor garage where they were working. They ducked his head under the tap and smeared him with grease. There was nothing criminal about the offence but it had caused the boy a great deal of annoyance. The four young men were fined £1 and costs each.
