MAN WHO WON’T WORK

WILL TOIL FOR THREE MONTHS STOLE CAR SPOTLIGHT Although, in the opinion of the Wanganui police, Albert Clement Frower is a man who won't work, he will have to turn to with a will for the next three months. Frower, a middle-aged man, pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to stealing a spotlight, valued at £2 ss, from Clem Ah Chee, and breaking the terms of his release on probation. Chief-Detectiv© Hammond said that the spotlight had been taken from Mr. Ah Chee’s car, which was standing outside the City Markets. Frower had taken a screw-driver and removed the lamp. Later he became frightened and threw the lamp into the harbour . The probation officer, Mr. W. J. Campbell, told the court that Frower had been placed on probation for theft at Wanganui. The term, which was for two years, had been imposed last March. He had been ordered to make restitution of £32 and had paid in £1 ss. “The Wanganui police say that Frower does not like work,” concluded Mr. Campbell. Frower was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on tfhe theft charge, being convicted and discharged on the second count.
