KAURI GUM CONTROL
BETTER TONE IN MARKET Questions of interest to the kauri gum trade were discussed at this week’s meeting of the board. Mr. M. H. Wynward presided. The accounts presented to the board indicated a very considerable increase in the turnover of gum handled for the producers and there appeared to be a better tone in the market, especially in connection with B2 gradings, for which there had been very little demand for some time past. The preliminaries in connecton with the gum cleaning plant has been carried a stage further and it is anticipated that the plant will be ready for operation during the early months of next year. An experimental trial of the proposed process proved quite satisfactory and the samples indicated the practicability of the plant contemplated for which the different parts are now under construction. The election for one representative for each of the kauri gum districts as producers’ representatives will take place on February 2, 1929, nominations closingon January IT. The ballot will be a postal one’ by all producers holding renewed licences for 1929.
