The Sanders Cup contest selection committee has decided to postpone the first trial races which were to have been held to-morrow to determine the boat to represent Auckland. The decision was made as the new boat Val i-s not ready to race, owing to the fact that her special sails have not yet arrived from England. An endeavour will be made to hold the trials about the middle of next week. Although Val, Rona and Avalon have been selected to take part in the trials, owners of other Jellicoe boats desirous of competing are invited to make immediate application to the Auckland Yacht and Alotor-Boat Association.
CORNWELL CUP TROUBLE
THE SPLIT AT DUNEDIN (Special to TillJ SUNJ DUNEDIN, Thursday. More was heard of the split in Dunedin yachting circles over the question of sending a challenge for the Cornwell Cup contest when the Otago Yacht and Motor-boat Association decided last evening to confirm its decision that it could not endorse the challenge forwarded by the .NorthEast Harbour Boating Club. Stating he had been greatly embarrassed during the week by a bombardment of questions by yachtsmen regarding the possibility of boycotting the club, the president of the association, Mr. J. T. Paul, said he hoped the. club would quickly come to some decision. He did not want the club to suffer in the least degree. He accepted what the club’s delegates had said that no antagonism was shown by the club against the association. He wished it to be distinctly understood that if the club went out of the association it would throw itself out. The club could only go out of the association by its own action, namely, by defying the association.
