Five people were drowned when a barge, the Blue Sea, equipped with special gambling devices, sank in a storm 15 miles off San Pedro, CaliforThe gamblers had been driven from pillar to post on the land, and several weeks ago had moved to the luxurious barge, which they refitted from an old steamer. « They dropped anchor beyond the 12mile limit. The party did a tremendous business with launch parties from the shore. The authorities had been endeavouring to devise a method of suppressing the gamblers when early today the storm occurred. The vessel sank with its five owners.
