WASTE OF METAL
BOMBAY DEVIATION BETTER CONSTRUCTION WANTED The metalling of the new Bombay deviation in its present alignment was strongly condemned at a meeting of the Automobile Association last evening. The chairman, Mr. A. Grayson, suggested that it was surely fair to ask Franklin County to pay for a quarter of the metal when the motorists were paying for all the rest. Mr. G. Henning said that the road wanted several thousands spent on it before it saw any metal. If the metalling were carried out. within 20 years half of it would have to be wasted because of alterations, widening and cutting down corners. “We want to catch the ear of the new Minister, and have the road done properly before it is metalled,” said Mr. Park. The executive decided not to do anything to encourage metalling at present.
