MORE MONEY WANTED

SCHOOL COMMITTEES’ REQUEST An increased grant would be warmly welcomed by the combined school committees of Auckland, and with this end in view the Auckland Primary Schools Committees’ Association decided last evening to approach the Education Department. A resolution, moved by Mr. R. Rew (Ponsonby), and passed unanimously, requested that the Government grant to school committees be Increased by 15 per cent. Mr. G. Brownlee also considered that the grant should be substantially increased. The Education Board had asked that a national grant be made to junior high schools, and, while that proposal was being considered, the question of increased grants to school committees should also be brought before the Government.
