LABOUR REUNION
FUNCTION AT DEVONPORT The combined Labour Party branches in the Waitemata electorate held a reunion last evening in the Masonic Hall, Devonport, the visitors being entertained at cards and dancing. The Kit Kat Lance Band played dance music. Mr. A. G. Osborne, Labour candidate for Waitemata at the' recent elections, briefly responded to a welcome extended by Mr. C. Bailey, secretary of the Devonport branch of the Labour Party. Among those present were: Mrs. B. Jackson, blue shot silk. Mrs. James, black silk. ilrs. D. Oag, mauve crepe de chine. Mrs. E. Mrs. Kitehingman, kingfisher blue crepe de chine. Mrs. Whitley, Japanese blue crepe de chine. Mrs. Edwards, flame georgette, Spanish shawl. Mrs. W. Smith, vieux rose crepe de chine. Mrs. Diver, figured crepe de chine. Mrs. D. McGregor figured silk, beaded. Mrs. Way, rose georgette. Mrs. Hinton, navy crepe de chine. Mrs. K. Willfams, lilac charmeuse and satin trimming. Mrs. S. Osborne, primrose georgette. Mrs. F. L. Morgan, apple green georgette. Mrs. Bailey, silver tissue frock. Miss V. Peterson, black satin, white i trimmings.
Miss L. Russell, floral georgette. Miss H. Petersen, beige georgette and lace. Miss D. Smith, apricot and blue crepe de chine. Miss J. Smith, navy silk. Miss C. Mariano, flame crepe de chine. The first euchre prize went to Mrs. Hayden, and the second to Mr. Lythberg. SALE OF WORK The annual sale of work in connection with Christ Church, Papakura, was held in the Paragon Theatre on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The sale, which was very successful financially, was opened by the vicar. Rev. W. C. Wood, in the presence of a large gathering. The stalls were prettily decorated with rambler roses. There were the usual competitions, to., which proved very popular. The following women assisted at the various stalls: Plain needlework. Mcsdames Bernasconi, Tasker, and Sutton: fancy needlework. Mesdames P. Hardman, Kite, and Miss C. Wood: produce, Mesdames Jellyman and Cornford; cakes, Mrs. Morrow; sweets. Mrs. K. C. Foote: bargains. Mesdames H. Muir, Mogford. and Kernot; Christmas tree (well laden), Mrs. A. Timer; ice cream. Misses Russell and Cramp: tea rooms, Mesdames Mills, Sutton. I sen.. Wilson, and Hope. Misses Mog- , ford. Turner, Hope, O’Neil, and Agmen Smith.
