TO STUDY TRANSPORT
A COMMITTEE APPOINTED DOMINIONS TO BENEIFT (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) ( United Service) LONDON, Monday. The Secretary of State for the Dominions, Mr. L. S. Amery, has appointed a Transport Committee to be responsible to Mr. W. G. Ormsby-Gore, Under-Secretary. It consists of Sir James Currie, Sir Henry Fowler, General F. D. Hammond and Mr. Herbert Diblett. The committee will study all the aspects of transport for the benefit of the overseas Empire. It hopes to evolve a large mechanical transport unit, not confined solely to good roads, but capable of increasing the customary load and reducing the ton a mile transport costs. The Empire Marketing Board and the participating overseas Government will share the expenses. The board is to advance the entire amount required for the first year. It is proposed ultimately to create an overseas Mechanical Transport Committee to represent the Imperial, Dominion, Colonial, Indian and Sudanese Governments.
