BANTAM-WEIGHT BOXING CONTEST AT WELLINGTON Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. Excessive holding by Frank Taylor, o£ Auckland, who was knocked out in the tenth round, marked a 15-round contest with Billy McAllister, professional bantam-weight champion of Australia, at the Town Hall this evening. The Australian champion did not brighten up until the tenth round, when he sent in a hard right to the solar plexus which put the Aucklander down for nine. He rose groggily but a hard right to the point floored him for the full count. McAllister fought at Sst 41b and Taylor at Sst lib. NEW PROFESSIONALS FIGHT Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday. T. Donovan (Waitara) defeated J. Cotterill (Petone) in a technical knock-out in the third round of a scheduled 15 rounds contest to-night. Cotterill showed cleverness, but Donovan fought like a tiger. Twice he had Cotterill down for nine in the third round, and when the Petone man went down again the referee stopped the fight. Both men were fighting their first professional bout.
