SPORTS AT PATUMAHOE
NEW YEAR DAY GATHERING The old-established Mauku Athletic Club will hold its annual sports gathering at Patumahoe on New Year’s Day. An attractive programme of running and horse events has been drawn up, the chief event being the 120yds handicap, for which prize money amounting to £2O has been allocated. An open hunter event, carrying with it £lO and a cup valued at £lO (special conditions) should also attract keen competition from followers of the crosscountry sport. Entries for the running events close next Saturday, December 15; horse events, post entry. A dance will be held in the Patumahoe Hall in the evening. There will be special trains from Auckland for the sports*
