BRITISH MINERS’ PLIGHT (Australian and X. Z. Press Association) LONDON, Sunday. The Government has prepared, and is expected to announce before Christmas, an important scheme to help the eoal industry, says the Sunday Express.” The public are concerned to learn that 250,000 miners are idle and more than 1,000,000 men, women and children are facing a cheerless Christmas. They are now subscribing hastily to the relief funds. The Government’s plan aims at the creation of a huge selling organisation as well as the provision of capital for the development of coal power on scientific lines.
