COUNTRY WELCOMES RAIN
BENEFIT TO PASTURES EMPTY TANKS REPLENISHED (From Our Oven Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. Welcome rain fell in the Waikato during the week-end. It started to rain heavily at 5 p.m. yesterday, continuing till 6 a.m. to-day. The fall lias done a tremendous amount of good to pastures, which were in much need of moisture. Farmers’ tanks, which had run very low, wert replenished. Haymaker* were caught unawares, but if there is a further fine spell th« damping will be harmless. A fall «C four inches was recorded at Hamilton, but it was heavier in the country. It is still raining.
PARCHED CROPS BENEFIT
(From Our Own, Correspondent) CAMBRIDGE. To-day. Rain set in here last evening and lasted for a few hours. Further showers are falling this morning. The rain will do an immense amount of good to the whole country, as the weather has been exceedingly hot and dry, and the pastures were getting parched. Crops will also greatly benefit. Haymaking operations are in full swing throughout the district. The crops are excellent.
