ROTORUA NOTES
A meeting of the executive of the Rotorua Sunshine League was held in the Government Sanatorium. Dr s w WaJlis presided. The meeting decided to proceed with the arrangements for a Christmas tree for the children at King George V. Hospital. For Christmas presents and Christmas fare the sum of 7s 6d a head was allotted to both King George V Hospital and the Government Sanatorium In addition to this, the» sum of 5s a child was allotted to King George V. Hospital for the Christmas tree. Mrs. Blencowe Mrs. Richards, Mrs. Hitchcock and Miss French were appointed a committee to deal with arrangements for the Christmas tree, which will be held at the hospital on December 21. The sum of £2 was allotted to the two institutions for decorations. The secretary was instructed to convey to Mr. C. H. Clinkard the congratulations of the league on his election to th« position of M.P. for Rotorua. * * * The Matriculation examinations are being held in St. John’s Hall, under th* supervision of Mrs. A. C. Randerson. There ai'e 20 candidates sitting for Matriculation and one for accountant's preliminary. Fifteen of these candidates arc pupils from the Rotorua High School. The Rotorua High School annual concert was held in the King’s Theatre on Friday evening. There was a large attendance of the public. The programme was most enjoyable and full o£ variety. The proceeds are to be given, to the school sports and prize fund. * * * Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Hockly and family, who are leaving Rotorua, are to be given a public farewell on Wednesday evening.
