THEFT OF BENZINE
TAXI-DRIVER FINED (From Our Oten Correspondent) OPOTIKI, Saturday. In the Police Court to-day Thomas Patrick Murphy, a married taxidriver. was charged with stealing a case of benzine, the property of the Vacuum Oil Co., from the Opotiki Wharf. Me was working there till midnight and took the benzine home in his car. Me was arrested by Constable Breed and pleaded guilty. The police stated that defendant was involved in a similar case in Wellington some years ago, when he served 14 days’ imprisonment. Me was fined £5 and costs and ordered to make restitution, in default one month’s imprisonmen t.
