NAVAL RESERVISTS

ANNUAL FIELD DAY PARADE AT DEVONPORT Complimentary reference to the work done by members of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve was made by Commodore G. T. C. P. Swabey, D. 5.0., R.X., Commodore commanding: the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, when the reservists held their annual field-day at Devonport on Saturday afternoon. The parade was first inspected by the commodore, and then marching, drill and shooting competitions, were held. Interesting work was done in all the competitions, and the cup presented by j Mr. W. P. Endean to the company J securing the highest aggregate points ! was won by C Company. A silk flag presented by the women’s committee of the Navy League was won by B Company. The following were the results of the field day competitions: Rifle Shooting.—For shield presented by the Majestic Theatre: Teams of live: C. Company. E. Benton won the cup presented by Mr. S. Burt for the highest Four-inch Gun Drill.—For cup presented by Mr. John Alexander, and individual medals presented by Mr. E. Kohn: C Company. Signalling.—Teams of six: For telescope presented by Surgeon Lieut.-Com-mander J. A. Watson and medals presented by the Devonport Steam Ferry Company: C Company. W. Dawes, of B Company received the fountain-pen presented by Mr. A. G. Lunn for highest points. Tug-o’-War.—Teams of 10: for pocketknives presented by Lieut.-Colonel Brittain: C Company. Efficiency Medals. Leading-Seaman Renner and Able-Seamen McGregor and Huggins, of A Company: Leading Seaman Gillian and Petty-Officer Gunn and Horener, of B Company; Petty-Officer Walters. Leading-Seaman Cutforth and Able-Seaman Statham of C Company. Medals for special attendance were presented to Leading-Seaman Dawes and Able-Seamen Gribble and Burleigh.
