FIRE AT DEVONPORT

SEVEN-ROOMED HOUSE DAMAGED Three rooms were badly damaged—one being completely gutted—in a seven-roomed house at 9 Rutland Road, Devonport, at about two o’clock yesterday morning. The building is owned by Mr. S. Teppett. Flames were breaking through the roof when the Devonport Fire Brigade arrived, but, after strenuous work, the firemen were able to prevent the fire from spreading over the rest of the house. The building was insured for £7OO in the Australian Provincial Assurance Office, and the furniture for £2OO in the London and Lancashire Office.
