Round the Churches
At to-morrow morning’s service in the Cathedral, Parnell, Canon Percival James will speak on "The Value of the Old Testament." In the evening he will preach on "The Right Uses of the Bible.” Other services will be held as usual. The Rev. Charles Chandler will be the preacher at the morning service in St. Matthew’s, Wellesley Street, tomorrow. At Evensong Canon Grant Cowen will preach. The Associated Churches of Christ will hold services as usual at Ponsonby Road, Dominion Road, Onehunga, Richmond, Avondale, Devonport, Point Chevalier and Mount Albert. At the Edendale Presbyterian Church to-morrow evening a special sermon will be preached for Sunday School teachers and Bible-class leaders. Services will be held as usual at the Somerville Church. The Methodist Central Mission will hold services as usual to-morrow. On the following Sunday a series of services in the Strand Theatre will begin. To-morrow evening at seven, Mrs. Harris-Roberts will speak in the Spiritual Scientists’ Church, Newton, on “Sabbath Observance.” An open lyceum circle will be held at 3 p.m. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, w'ill hold the usual morning and evening services in the church hall, near Grafton Bridge. The subject will be, “God, the Only Cause and Creator.” Dr. J. J. North, principal of the New Zealand Baptist College, will speak at the morning service in the Grange Road Baptist Church to-morrow. In the evening Mr. George Wilson, of the Ceylon and Indian General Mission, will preach. * * * The Rev. Arthur Mitchell will preach at both the morning and the evening service in St. John’s, Ponsonby, tomorrow. The evening service will be choral. * * * The speaker at to-morrow’s men’s meeting at the Y.M.C.A. will be the Rev. George Wilson, of the Ceylon and Indian General Mission. * * * The Progressive Spiritualist Church, Newmarket, will hold a service at 7 p.m. to-morrow. The subject will be “Spiritualism, Its Power For Good.” • * * The International Bible Students’ Association will hold a Bible study class in the Masonic 'Hall, Edinburgh Street, at 3.15 to-morrow. At 6.45 an address will be given by Mr. J. Capes.
