IS ARAPUNI SAFE?
HAMILTON ASKS VOR EXHAUSTIVE STATEMENT RESOLUTION OF COUNCIL (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Thursday. That Hamilton is not quite certain o£ the stability of the Arapuni dam was shown at the meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council this evening when the following resolution, pro-
posed by Mr. J. E. Tidd, was carried without discussion: “That, in order to allay anxiety of residents, particularly in the towns adjacent to the Waikato River, the Hamilton Borough Council urges on Parliament the necessity for an immediate and exhaustive public statement concerning various sensational .reports regarding the stability of the rock formation at the Arapuni dam site, and that a copy of the resolution be sent to the Prime Minister and the members of Parliament for Hamilton, Waikato and Raglan/* Mr. Tidd said the nature of the professional opinion that had been published recently called for an authoritative statement.
