SYDNEY SUBURB FIRE.—A fire at Johnson’s varnish factory in the Sydney suburb of Waterloo gutted the two-storeyed building and ruined the machinery. The flames and smoke drove the employees out of the building quickly. Large stores of turpentine, wax preparations and other inflammable materials fed the fire, and it was impossible for the firemen to save anything. The damage is estimated at £IO,OOO.
