FUN AT FULLERS’
“WHIRL OF MIRTH 7 ' RLVUL ‘-The Banana Kings,” George Ward and Clias. L. Sherman, will produce another of the merry “Whirl of Mirth” revues at St. James Theatre this evening. Strong, in voices, in humorists, in musicians and in dancers, the ‘/Whirl of Mirth” company provides a refreshing carnival of youth and gaiety. “Little Hermie” Ward is the main comedian, and he will appear with other members of the company in some of the most laughable sketches yet produced in Auckland. Prank Moran and Clias. Sherman well back him up. Gus Lawson and Vernon Sellars will sing and dance • through some musical hits. Curly Sherwood, Patsy Hill and Colleen Hope are all capable comediennes, who are attractive in song, dance and story. Led by Frank Wilson, the Charleston Symphonic Six, a jazz band of exceptional vigour, is pleasing Aucklanders. The band makes syncopation a feature, and novelty solo work is introduced freely. Six charming girls do the bulk of the dancing of the show—very ably assisted by Jean Keith—and the technique and dressing of the ballets could not be improved on. The orchestra is under the capable direction of Kathleen Ward.
