TOOK BOOK AND HAT
THEFT AT ONEHUNGA MONTH’S GAOL IMPOSED Yesterday afternoon John Ft McGrath was given permission to leave his kit of tools in a shed in Queen Street. OneWhen he took it away later he added a pair of boots and a hat belonging to Makore Martin, a gardener " hen Constable Hinton subsequently intcrviewed Mr.Grath at his home he "', a ,L" < ' arins the stolen boots, but his old boots, the kit of tools and the hat were discovered in a second-hand shop. McGrath told Messrs. J. E. Cowell and I. C. Soar, J.P.’s in the Onehungu Police Court this morning that he had bought the boots and hat from a man named Bolton, but he refused to repeat the statement in the witness-box. McGrath will be excluded from society for one month. The boots and hat were ordered to be restored to their owner.
