GIRL GUIDES’ CORNER

At the annual meeting of the Otanuhu Girl Guides* Committee held recently, the secretary presented a comprehensive report of the activities of the two companies of Guides and also the Brownie pack. The treasurer’s report showed the finances to be in a sound position. The following officers were elected for the coming year:—President, Mrs. R. B. Todd; chairwoman. Mrs. A. Murdoch; vice-presidents. Mesdames J. E. Gillies, T. Clements, McFarlane, Payne, Read. Currie. Parton, Pearce. Trenwith, Jas. Todd, Everard and Miss McGee: hon. secretary and treasurer. Mi's. M. J. Heather; committee, Mesdames Ogilvie, Sawyer, Fleet, Byers, Boniface, Handisides. Box. J. Wallace, R. Wallace, and the Misses Wingate; auditor, Miss Mollie Gillies. Dancing Star, of the First Takapuna Company, writes: •At our first meeting, held on November 2, Grace Dawson and Barbara Arthur, of the Cornflower patrol, were enrolled. “On November 17. our Guides attended St. Cuthbert’s College*, where the practice for the rally was held. “Our oompany was largely represented at the Rally on November 24. With Patrol-leader Sita Shaw as Florence Nightingale, and nine girls dressed as nurses, we represented the third Guide law. Usefulness. “The Takapuna Company is holding its field day soon.” Sun-flecked Shadow writes that Miss Rurgin attended the meeting of the St. John's Royal Oak Company last Thursday and taught the girls a new Guide song. These Guides now hold their meetings in the afternoons, instead of the evenings. • Wigwam members in the First Cam-

bridge Company have contributed over ten shillings to the Fresh Air Fund, and will be responsible /or sending one child to camp. This*is an example that other Braves might well follow. It would be a ‘happy prospect if each company -with representatives in the Wigwam could send one child.
