TAURANGA SUB-PROVINCIAL UNION SPEEDING-UP TANEATUA TRAIN (From Our Oxen Correspondent) • OPOTIKI, To-day. The Tauranga Sub-Provincial Farmers’ Union quarterly meeting was held at Opotiki, 17 delegates from all parts of the Bay of Plenty being present. Mr. G. S. Moody, Mayor of Opotiki and president of the Opotiki branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, welcomed the visitors. Mr. E. Gill, of Te Puke, sub-pro-vincial president, presided. Remits dealing witn speeding up the passenger train from Tajieatua to Auckland, the continuation construction of the railway from Taneatua to Opotiki, and the linking up of the Paeroa-Pokeno railway were carried unanimously. Further remits dealing with the weights of sacks of maize, weavil in imported maize, and kindred diseases, poor class rubber in milking machine requisites were submitted to headquarters for further consideration. At the conclusion of the meeting an informal meeting was held by the supporters of the farmers’ political party.
