In a tennis competition for tlie Coates Cup at Arapohue on Saturday, Arapoliue retained the trophy from To Kopuru by six matches to one. ■Results, Arapohue names first, are: Ambury lost to \V. G. *3. Smith, 4 —6, 6—4, 4 —6; IT. lveer beat W. G. Smith 6 —5, 6 —2. Ambury and Keer beat W. G. S. Smith and W. G. Smith, 4—6, 6—5, 6—4; R. Wilkins and J. Dodd beat A. McCarroll and T. Wordsworth, 6 —l, 5—6, 6 —3; Misses Wyatt and Kitcliing beat Misses Bryers and Lundy, il —7; Miss Hitching and R. Wilkins beat Miss Landy and A. McCarroll, 11 —2; Miss Wyatt and J.
