DAMAGE AND DEATH

STRICKEN CHILEAN TOWNS (United Service) VANCOUVER, Tuesday. Refugees from Talca, Cliile, say that the damage done in that city by th* recent earthquake is estimated at «£ 3,000,000. A hospital was burnt after the disturbance and 200 persons were injured. Fifty-four people were killed and 100 were injured at Port Constitution. The damage was widespread. Practically all the population there and in the surrounding villages are now living in tents in open squares.

The total number of persons killed in the entire earthquake zone is 230.
