NEW CRICKET CAPTAIN FOR THE ESSEX CLUB
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10.49 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The Essex County Cricket Club made an official' statement to-night that H. M. Morris has been asked, and had agreed, to captain the team in 1929. It adds: It is very much hoped that the valuable services of J. W. H. T. Douglas will still be available. Douglas informed the “Evening Standard” that he had not resigned, “but if they have got a better man they should have him.”
