The decorations were delightful and very good music was supplied by the Huntly Orchestra. The hostesses were Mrs. Isdale, Mrs. Hall and Mrs. McGruer. CARNIVAL BALL AT CAMBRIDGE i For the carnival bail held on Fri- j uay evening in the Town Hall at Cam- j onuge an imposing effect was given to me stage oy tour white columns which supported a canopy or coloured ribbons. Hay music was provided by Banneid's Orchestra, supplemented by gramophone selections, special dance 'and vaudeville turns were given by Mr. Rex Mack ana Ins partner Many of the dancers were in poster costumes, Mrs. K. armer, representing Husue anu. Co., was awarded first prize, special prizes going to Miss Tapp (baby’s trousseau), Miss McCuilocK. (biscuits), Miss Harris (Richards and Co.), ana Mr. O. Thompson (benzine bowser), other poster costumes wearers were: Miss M. Shaw, tea; Miss E. Cubis, Hautapu Dairy; Miss M. Byrne, tennis; Miss F. Clark, seeds; Miss Greta Abel, Unity tea; Miss G. Wells, motor reflectors; Miss M. Osborne, Chevrolet car; Miss Dagmar Jones, Munro Motors, Ltd.; Mrs. A. C. Mann, bun Newspapers; Mrs. L. Man, Green River cordial; Miss E. Osborne, hosiery; Miss M. Banfield, Banfield’s, tobacconist; Miss Elva Williams, radio; Miss W. Black, McDonald’s ice cream; Miss U. Kelly, P.O. Butchery; Miss G. Beere, ashes of roses; Miss D. Atkinson, Cadbury’s chocolate; Miss M. Stevenson, the Towel King. Many others were present in usual evening dress. GARDEN PARTY FOR CHURCH OF CHRIST The Women’s Guild of the Church of Christ held a very enjoyable garden party and sale of work on Saturday. Mrs. Salisbury, president of the guild, welcomed the visitors and thanked all tfte helpers. The Church Orchestra under Mr. Cooney played selections chroughout the afternoon. The stallholders were: Afternoon tea, Mesdames Pollard and Newby; needlework, * Mesdames Foster and Gadd; cakes and sweets, Mesdames Livingstone and Hoult; produce, Mesdames Salisbury and Campbell; children’s stall, Misses Polard and Leeder. EX-SERVICE WOMEN’S OFFICERS At a meeting of the Auckland ExService Women’s Association, officers for the year were elected. They were: President. Mrs. Cadoux; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Gould, Deck, Michaels and Leary; treasurer, Miss 1. Luxford: secretary. Miss V. Stocker; committee, Mesdames Smith. Webster.
