ACTRESS DAUGHTER-IN-LAW IGNORED Believed to have been one of the richest men in the world, Sir Mortimer Barnett Davis, the Canadian industrial magnate, left English estate of £5,951,00(1, of which probate has been taken out by Lord Shaughnessy, of Montz'eal. The total amount of his fortune is not yet disclosed. In his will, containing numerous personal and charitable bequests, Sir Mortimer left one-half of the residue of his property on trust for his son Mortimer for life, with remainder to follow the other one-half, stipulating that his son Mortimer’s interest is to be restricted to him pei'sonally, and not passed to his wife or issue. Mr. Mortimer Davis’s marriage with Miss Rose Dolly, the actress (one of the Dolly Sisters) only became known at the beginning of March, although the ceremony took place a year previously. Sir Mortimer Davis was a wellknown supporter of racing in France. Last year he worf the French Oaks with his horse Fairy. He died at his villa at Cannes in March. Large bequests go to his chauffeur, assistant chauffeur and head gardener. To his son Mortimer, who benefits as stated above, he left his personal effects and a life annuity of 67,000 dollars ( £13,400). To his widow, the former Countess Morini, who shared her husband’s enthusiasm for racing, Sir Mortimer left his personal property in France, other than his racing establishments, and a life annuity of 67,000 dollars^ He directed that any person contesting his will should forfeit all in terest under it.
