GOOD STRAWBERRY DEMAND TOMATOES PLENTIFUL Strawberries were in ample supply on the City Markets to-day. The inquiry was good. Buyers competed keenly for gooseberries, and the demand has improved. GREATER quantities of hothouse tomatoes are offering. A slight decline in values has taken place. The demand for lemons is still poor. Local apples are coming from the cool store in large quantities. They are selling at loav rates. Pears are hard to clear. Bananas are in fair demand, but Sydney oranges are cheaper. Californian grapes are selling at increased prices. New potatoes, green peas and lettuces are in heavy supply The demand for vegetables generally is fair.
