DROUGHT IN N.S.W.

BUTTER PRODUCTION AFFECTED DROP OF 15 PER CENT. (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 1.5 p.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Concern is expressed regarding the prospects in dairying districts, owing to there being insufficient rainfall during the past five months along the coastal area of New South Wales, where good rains are urgently needed to revive the pastures. The effect of reports by dairy department officials is that instead of a seasonable advance towards the peak of butter and cheese production, there is now a decline, in almost all important districts, to the extent of about 15 per cent. Considerable hand-feeding is reported in order to maintain milk production. Conditions inland are better, with dry feed available, but production has passed its peak and is now below normal. Even good rains would not prevent a decline now.
