TWO STUDENTS SHOT
RIOTING AT ZAGREB YUGO SLAV CELEBRATIONS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) BERLIN, Saturday. Two persons were killed and four were injured in an encounter between the police and students, in connection with Jugoslavian ceremonies at Zagreb, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the union of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Three Croatian students appeared in the gallery of the cathedral, before which a guard of honour was drawn up, and unfurled three black flags, on which were inscribed the dates of the death of the Croat leader, Stefan Raditeh, in June; also the date of the Serb-Croatian union and of the demonstration against the Serbs, both the latter having been in 1918. The men of the guard drew their swords as the crowd responded to the students’ call for cheers for Raditeh and a free Croatia, and General Vesovics ordered the trio to be arrested. Th© crowd rushed to liberate them and the soldiers opened Are and killed two of the students. The troops were then withdrawn. The police and gendarmes dispersed the crowd, after a policeman and three other persons had been injured.
