GAME BIRDS ARRIVE
PARTRIDGES FOR AUCKLAND ANIMALS ON THE ROTORUA The animal world was well represented on the Rotorua when she arrived from England yesterday. n,,?'l er . 200 Hungarian partridges fluttered excitedly in their cages, lhese pretty game birds, which stood the voyage remarkably well, were imported by the Auckland Acclimatisaticin Society. Some will be liberated at Nakarau, in the Uelensville district borne at Pokeno and a few will go to private breeders. Six Angora rabbits were consigned to Mr. Walter Hamer, Calliope Road Devonport. Almost every boat from England now brings a. number of these fluffy animals and the production of Angora wool threatens to become a real industry in the Dominion. There were also two canaries in charge of the ship’s cook. Two thoroughbred horses (one an Arab stallion from Egypt), which are mentioned elsewhere, had their own special attendant.
