FLORAL FETE
TAKAPUNA PREPARATIONS Next Saturday Taharoto Park, Takapuna, will be the centre toward which all traffic will gravitate. On that day will be held the floral fete that has been in preparation for many months past, the proceeds to be utilised for borough beautifying. The time-table of events approved is as follows: —12.45, all decorated vehicles must be on the ground; 1.2 p.m., judging; 2 p.m., grand parade; 2.15 p.m., display by children of Takapuna Primary School; 2.30 p.m., display by Takapuna Fire Brigade, display by Senior Cadets; 3.10 p.m., display by Takapuna Grammar School; 3.25 p.m., gymnastic displays by members of St. Peter’s Club; 3.40 p.m., display by Belmont Primary School, interval; 4.20 p.m., massed bands performance; 4.45 p.m., display by surf and life-saving clubs. The floral displays and decorated vehicles, ranging from motors right down to children’s scooters and trollies, should all combine toward making the afternoon one of the greatest spectacular events ever organised on the Shore. A humorous diversion will be a push-bal: match, to be played between two teams of local celebrities. Entries for all competitive events in the fete close with the secretary, Mr. E. A. Blomfield, 92 Hurstmere Road, Takapuna, to-morrow. Post entries will be accepted, but the various entry fees will be doubled. DIXIELAND CABARET Dancing will be enjoyed again this evening at the popular Dixieland Cabaret, when the usual Monday carnival night will be held. With the music and the perfect dancing floor, a happy evening is assured.
