MR. H. H. STERLING TAKES OVER RAILWAYS OFFICIALLY INSTALLED TO-DAY To-day Mr. H. H. Sterling officially takes over his duties as general manager of the New Zealand Railways. Although he was appointed to his present position last June, he still continued to hold his position as general manager of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company, at the same time devoting a good deal of his time to railway business. Mi* Sterling has had a meteoric career with the Railway Department, he left in 1926 under a seven years’ engagement to the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company. When the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, decided to disDand the Railway Board and revert to single control of the railways, he considered Mr. Sterling the most suitable man -or the position. The directors of the Dairy Company released Mr. Sterling from his position with them He will now devote the whole of his energies to the railways of New Zealand.
