Round the Churches

Advent Sunday will be celebrated at St. Mary’s, Parnell, to-morrow. In the morning Canon Rercival James will preach on “Ju and Salvation,’ and again in the evening on “Sunday: and observance.” The Rev. Carew Thomas will preach at the morning service in St. Matthew’s, Wellesley Street, to-morrow. In the evening the preacher will be Canon Cirant Cowen. * * * The Rev. W. J. Kerr, of Roodepoort, South Africa, will preach at the morning service in the Grange Road Baptist Church to-morrow. The Rev. W. M. P. Lascelles, secretary of the union, will speak in the evening. Mr. P. Bellow will give an address at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Central Mission to-morrow. At France Street at 9 a.m. a prayer meeting will be held and at 7 p.m. the Bible Class will conduct a service. The Sunday afternoon men’s meeting at the Y.M.C.A. to-morrow will be addressed by the Rev. W. J. Keer, of the Rand Native Gospel Mission. ** * * * A musical servico will be given at St. John’s, Ponsonby Road, to-morrow evening. Extracts from Mendelssohn’s great masterpiece, “Elijah,” will be sung by Miss Alma McGruer, Miss Laura Stone, Mr. Birrell O’Malley and the Rev. A. Mitchell. * * * The First Church of Christ. Scientist, will hold services as usual at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. to-morrow. If e subject will be “Ancient and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, Denounced.” * * * Mrs. Hudson will conduct the evening service at the Progressive Spiritualists’ Church. Newmarket, to-mor-row. The annual meeting will be held on Monday and Open Circle on Wednesday. * * * The International Bible Students’ Association will hold services in the Masonic Hall, Edinburgh Street, at 3.15 P.m. and 6.45 p.m. Mr. R. A. Kinninmonth will be the speaker. * * * The Associated Churches of Christ will hold services as usual at Ponsonby Road, Dominion Road, Richmond, Devonport, Avondale and "Mount Albert. At Onehunga and Point Chevalier Bible School anniversaries will be celebrated. At the Edendale Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. the Rev. W. Gilmour will induct four members to the eldership of the Church. The Rev. W. Rowe will preach. At 7 p.m. the Rev. W. Gilmour will be the speaker. The Rev. J. Pattison will be the preacher at both morning and evening services at the Somervell Presbyterian Church. # The Spiritual Scientists’ Church will hold services at 3 p.m. and at 7 p.m. At the evening service Mrs. HarrisRoberts will givo an address.
