RIALTO, AND REGENT, EPSOM
“THE LEOPARD LADY” The colourful life of circus performers. with murders and mysteries to provide the thrills, is the background of the picture, “The Leopard Lady,” now at the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres. Jacqueline Logan has the leading feminine role. In the story Miss Logan is an animal trainer, known as the “Leopard Lady.” She has joined a circus in Austria in an effort to solve the mystery of several murders presumably committed by an old lady, but actually by an ape owned by a Cossack rider, played by Alan Hale. When Paula (Miss Logan) discovers the assassin, she is loath to expose him as he had once saved her life. The second feature is “The Night Bride,” an hilarious comedy of a young girl’s opposition to convention. Marie Prevost is the star and is supported by Harrison Ford. REGINALD DENNY NOW AT ROYAL Reginald Denny’s latest comedy, "Good Morning-, Judge,” is now at the Royal Theatre, Kingsland. This time the star appears as a scion of wealth who can't pay his fine when brought before a judge, after participating as an innocent bystander in a fight. Someone has stolen his wallet. A beautiful mission worker who believes that hardened crooks can be reformed adyances the sum. Denny falls in love with her and, in order to become an inmate of her mission, confesses to • a long list of crimes. Later, he saves her from some of the criminals whom- she thought she had reformed. She finally learns his real identity, but this doesn’t halt their romance. Jack Mulhall, another comedy player, is the star of the second feature. This is “The Butter and Egg Man,” a story of theatrical life in New York. FINE PICTURES AT BRITANNIA A new kind of starring vehicle for the wonder dog, “Flash,” with a plot laid in the Great War, with German Army life and German soldiers for the background, is “Under the Black Eagle,” which will be shown this evening at the Britannia Theatre. The director has succeeded admirably in giving a picture with -thrills and absorbing moments. Tragedy and pathos play their parts, intermingled with a romance between Marceline Hay and Ralph Forbes, who are the leading players. “Flash.” a striking looking and remarkably sagacious canine, scores chief acting honours in this picture. “Good Morning, Judge,” a thoroughly happy comedy, in which Reginald Hennv has the leading role, is the second attraction.
