OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL
The Ohinemuri County Council met at Paeroa on Thursday, Cr H. M. Corbett presiding. The Highways District Council forwarded details of the amounts approved for maintenance of highways for the year 1928-29. The items for the Ohinemuri County were: Hauraki PlainsOhinemuri boundary, to Paeroa west boundary and Paeroa east boundary, to Waihi west boundary, £4,763 at £2 10s for £1; Waihi east boundary to Ohine-muri-Tauranga County boundary, £2SS at £1 10s for £1: Hikukaia to Paeroa north boundary, £750 at £1 10s for £1; Paeroa Borough south boundary to Te Aroha north boundary, £1,506 at £1 10s for £ 1. Six tenders were received for the contract for the building in concrete of a supplementary dam to the Paeroa water supply, and that of Mr. W. H. Taylor, of Paeroa, was accepted at the jjrice of £1,031 10s. The chairman moved a
resolution of appreciation of the services rendered to the council by .Mr. O. G. Thornton, resident engineer of’the P. He said the council had always found Mr. Thornton fair and reasonable, and he was recognised as a capable and good engineer. For the erection in concrete of a supplementary dam to the Paeroa water supply six tenders were reecived. That of Mr. W. H. Taylor for £1,021 was accepted, being the lowest.
