TAUMARUNUI ACCEPTANCES
Owners and trainers intendiiig to race horses at the Taumarunui rfieeting will not forget that acceptances close at 5 p.m. on Monday, with either Messrs. Blomfield and Co., Auckland. or the secretary, Mr. S. Sarah, Taumarunui. Opotiki improvements Extensive improvements are to be made on the Opotiki racecourse. The accommodation on the grandstand is to bo largely increased, a members’ stand erected on top of the stewards’ room, and a booth built. The Waioeka Domain Board. which controls the ground, met last evening and considered several tenders, that of J. H. Matthew's being accepted. Tt is understood the cost is between £4OO and £SOO. It is hoped the work will be completed by Boxing Day, in time for the Opotiki Motor-Cycle Club’s sports. Coming Back Advices to hand state that Clarendon, an ex-New Zealander who was a complete failure at meetings in Sydney, was shipped aboard the Marama yesterday. Perception, who is returning to Auckland to contest the Great Northern Guineas, was also put on board.
