OLD MAN’S TRAGEDY GAOL HIS ONLY HOME Nobody wants John Gregg Cummings and Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., was forced to send him to gaol this morning to save him from walking the streets. Cummings, a clerk aged 76, looking much fresher than when he last appeared, having been on a week’s remand at the gaol, pleaded guilty to being idle and disorderly, having begged alms in Darby Street. “The old man has a long list,” remarked Chief-Detective Hammond. “He lias no pension and if you let him go he will only walk the streets until he is brought here again. None of thfe homes will have him and he has been in one of them four times.” “I suppose I shall have to send him up with the others,” said Mr. Hunt, as he imposed a term of three months’ imprisonment.
