Williamson Chief in U.S. and London WHAT HE HAS SECURED (Australian and X.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. Sir George Tallis, managing director of J. C. Williamson, Ltd., has. arrived from America, Interviewed by the Australian and New Zealand Press Association, he said he had secured the cream of American productions, including the musical comedies “Showboat” and “New Moon.” “They are Broadway’s most successful features,” he remarked. Sir George added that a special company headed by Mr. Allen Bunce and Miss Rita Nugent was going immediately to Australia, to play “Pigs,” “Lafl that Off” and “Little Accidents,” which are all similar to “The Patsy.” They open in Sydney in January, after “The Patsy” has been taken off. Sir George has re-engaged Alfred Frith to play in the musical comedy “The Five O Clock Girl, ’ with Annie Croft, and has arranged a compauy to produce “The Patsy” in London on December 24. The American star, Helen Ford, will be the leading lady. The subsequent production will be “The Dearest Enemy.” “Showboat” is now playing at Drury Lano, London, with Marie Burke in the leading role. Alfred Frith and Rita Nugent are both known to New- Zealand theatregoers. She has been a big success in Berlin and London this year.
