MEMORABLE ASSEMBLY
FINAL SESSION HELD MODERATOR’S ADDRESS _—- “One of the most memorable assemblies that ever have been held" was the description applied by Mr. W. H. Rose (Christchurch) to the Presbyterian General Assembly, which concluded its sessions this morning, the ninth day of sitting. Memorial minutes and motions of thanks were, carried. It was decided that the next meeting of Assembly should be held on Wednesday, March 5, 1930, at First Church, Dunedin.' “I hope I will be dead and gone before there is a Knox College party in the church," said the Moderator, the Right Rev. Professor W. Hewitson, in his closing address. He Avas a colonial and an Australian, but he could name 12 men in the church of such character, devotion and power that he could not name 12 colonials to weigh them down. He had tried to be fair and also to be kind, and the hardest thing to do was to cojnbine justice and mercy. There, had been a pleasant feeling throughout the Assembly. Confusion had been avoided by the members not appealing on points of order ort every possible occasion, but leaving decisions to the man in the chair. . “Some men will be down on a particle," said the Moderator, “and you can’t move them. I gay, let the juggernaut go over them!” Assembly then adjourned.
